Dads who have daughters

I had your father/daughter type relationship with my dad..until he got the same dam advice and it literally made me feel UNWANTED & UNLOVED...too much emotional damage. It didn't stop with me, his mom became an issue to her. His brother became an issue. She literally convinced him to end his relationships with everyone but her and their new friends. He married her, and we all became estranged. All holidays, became about her and her family. I don't know him anymore. Sounds like, she needs the boundary set

I'm sorry to hear that's what happened. I'm a firm believer that kids come first. Any relationship outside of that is second... including your SO. It's too bad your dad didn't realize that.

Thanks for your input. Indeed family dynamics can be different. Parents should create a safe place for kids and they will express their love and needs however they see fit for them. Some kids like physical touch and others don't. Doesn't mean it's not a healthy relationship. Glad you have a good one with your kids.
