How to write a character with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) without butchering it?

I'm writing a series of stories where the main character happens to have BPD, and though they aren't about her condition, it somewhat affects the stories some way or another, like how she acts.

Note, that I did my homework and I'm going to do more of it, but I'm sorta scared of butchering it in general because BPD is a mental illness, and mental illnesses are a very real and serious thing.

So, any tips and advice on writing a character with BPD?
