How to get past a wall

Hey Everyone,

Just downloaded the game and been having a lot of fun. I’ve gotten through to timeline 4 age 6 (Timeline 2 age 6 on the event) and have hit a wall.

I have over 2/s food production but can’t seem to beat either level, what are the ways to get past a wall like this? Is the solution to just wait for the next day to get gems to improve my cards?

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
