Communication between artists and their clients can be SO easy

I never understood why there’s always so much drama between artists and their clients? And I’m not referring to the artists that ghost their clients or the clients that are rude + nitpick everything. I’m just talking about the ones where showing professionalism and having better communication would have resulted in a better experience for both parties. And most of these cases, there isn’t a who’s right, who’s wrong. BOTH are wrong.

Communication isn’t that hard. As a client, you should first check the artist’s website, read their TOS, understand how they do things before commissioning. Make sure you let the artist know what you want, show them all your references, be clear about the pose and elements. Let them know if you have a deadline, double check if you need to pay a rush or commercial fee. Ask the artist when you can expect a draft. Mark that down, and ask again when that time comes around. Be patient. Be understanding. Be respectful. Be professional.

Communication isn’t that hard. As an artist, clarify to your clients the process of commissioning you. Let them know how you do things. Don’t assume everyone goes to your website and reads your TOS. I literally work a job answering questions where the answers to these questions are on our website. I wouldn’t have a job if people were smart and could find answers on their own. You should also let your client know when to expect the art and stick to it. If there are going to be delays, update them and apologize for the inconvenience. Be patient. Be understanding. Be respectful. Be professional.

Sorry for the long af post but lemme know what you all think and what other things can people do to communicate better and make the whole process smoother?
