Cat Urinary Incontinence

Hello Vets,

I have a 16-year old spayed female Manx cat that seems to have become incontinent in the last month or 2. She leaks urine while sleeping and it is becoming difficult to keep up with at my home, which is starting to smell like cat pee. We have done x-rays, ultrasounds, urinalysis, and have come up with no answers. My vet suggested she might be having issues from her bob tail/arthritis and pain or a pinched nerve and put her on Solensia. This also didn't resolve the problem either.

My vet said he has never heard of or seen an incontinent cat in his 10+ years as a vet and initially did not want to prescribe medication for incontinence but I am getting desperate on how to treat this. He prescribed DES for her but I am concerned because I am finding information on the internet that this is NOT to be used in cats and can cause organ failure.

The other options he suggested were Proin- which he said would be hard to dose because it's a large, chewable tablet and would need to be given 2x/day or Incurin- which he said is much smaller but less reliable.

Are there any suggestions for tests we haven't tried? Or suggestions on a medication to try and treat urinary incontinence in cats? Can I give her DES or do you recommend a different medication? She is not having issues with defecating, only urine at this time.

*I am not looking for medication dosage information, just possible medications and information regarding the safety of medications that have been suggested to me*

Thank you!
