Cell plan question

Buying my first cell cam and reviewing plans. If I buy a plan that has say 250 photos a month included, can I just up my plan mid month if I’m getting close? Maybe this varies by brand, but curious if that’s what people do to make sure they aren’t paying for pictures they’ll never get.
