To people who still like the new content, why?
First off I should start by saying I'm not trying to start something here, I know this is a divisive topic in the fanbase, I'm just genuinely curious about the people who still like the new content.
I'll preface this by saying I'm pretty upset with what we've gotten over the past few years. I think broadly there have been many opportunities to build TWDU into a broader universe, but that none of them have been seized. I think this was specifically illustrated with Rick and the CRM arc, from 2019 to 2024 there was a general consensus that the CRM arc would introduce us to a larger universe, one that would include all the main characters in the show fighting against a continent-wide military. Rick and Jadis ended up taken by them, and Gabriel, Negan, and Morgan were all introduced to them, so there were high expectations. But instead we got it all wrapped up in a six episode miniseries, in a very contained way relative to the broader universe.
For me though the final straw was the radio call, when in Season 1 of Daryl Dixon, Daryl called Carol from the U.S. and when Daryl was led to believe that someone "came back", shortly after being told by Judith that Rick was still alive. But then it ended up being "a feeling". What a joke, that really made me feel as a fan that I'm being taken advantage of by the writers, they know what we want and are just stringing us along with directionless spinoffs that aren't at all interconnected. So given that trend I just don't see a reason to subscribe to AMC+
That was a long rant, but I know there's still a lot of people here who like the new content. If that's you, why? I really want to emphasize that I'm not here to judge, but what is it that you like about the new stuff?
