Sims 4 keeping townies prisoner question.

I'm starting a 100 baby challenge where I keep the Baby Daddies trapped in an underground prison. I know that of I leave the lot the townies disappear. My question is do they disappear if I split the household? Like, once my teens age up into adults and I go to manage worlds to move them out will the townies disappear?
