Bali trip advice

Hey guys! I’m going to Bali for 2 weeks and need a bit of a stay advice. I’m going there to attend an event in Kuta, so at least 10 days of my stay are going to be spent there. But obviously I want to visit other legendary spots as well - Uluwatu, Padangpadang etc. What would you suggest, should I book a little 4-day stay in Uluwatu area, or is it theoretically reachable from Kuta? How long and complicated is the drive/taxi if I stay in Kuta for all 2 weeks? I heard that traffic there could be a hassle, but have no idea how bad (or not that bad) is it in reality
