UK bowl culture question

I just moved to the UK from the States, and have had several wonderful, multi year SRs over there. I'm looking for something new in the UK, and having a hell of a time just getting women to talk on the phone for a few minutes. Is this just not done here? I prefer to avoid talking financial specifics until I've at least had a conversation with someone, and I don't like discussing details of those things in writing regardless in case it comes back to bite me one day. Being unwilling to discuss finances over text, and asking to do it on a call instead, has resulted in really negative reactions from multiple women at this point, who want numbers and cash commitments before we even talk. It all seems so crass compared to my experiences in the States.

Do any of the UK folks here have suggestions on navigating this? Do you just have to wade through a mountain of time wasters? If someone isn't even willing to talk on the phone I can't imagine them ever showing up to meet.
