Supreme Court is hearing arguments on the TikTok ban on 1/10

It increasingly seems like the TikTok ban is... actually happening this time?

SCOTUS just agreed to hear TikTok's challenge to the ban, but they scheduled challenges for January 10th, less than two weeks before the ban is scheduled to take place, and they're not freezing the ban in the meantime.

After lower courts rejected their appeal, it's still not impossible that the Supreme Court reverses. Plus, Trump recently met with TikTok's CEO, indicating he's willing to hear them out.

But if we're just going off of the vibes, this definitely feels more real than previous attempts to ban TikTok have.

What do you think? Personally, I think the reasons behind this ban are motivated by Cold War-style xenophobia, but I also think TikTok's done plenty of harm and we'd probably be better off without it. I see people who work in social recovering pretty quickly, since IG, YouTube, etc. already have their own short-form competitors. But there could be a negative impact on small businesses, indie artists, and others who've benefited from TikTok.
