Does anyone snowboard alone?

I used to snowboard with my friends in my home town. No tricks, just casual sliding down with edge change and repeat. Now I really want to learn some simple tricks but I have no friends in the city where I live now. My wife and some people I know are not into snowboarding and I’m kind of shy to make new friends. So the only option for me as for now is to drive to ski resorts alone. Is going alone a common practice or is it way too awkward?

Honestly I don’t think I will have fun riding alone but I want to hear if you practice that.
