Adult shrimp disappearing babies thriving

I started my shrimp tank with approximately 17 adults/teenagers. I’ve had at least 3 have babies. Those babies are thriving, but there are only 3-4 of the original adults left. I’ve only ever seen a single dead shrimp. What’s going on? Why are the adults disappearing?
