Is inheritance tax the solution to growing wealth inequality?

It seems right? If wealth of individuals are taxed from a certain NPV and above, wouldn’t that solve the rising inequality of wealth? It would discourage people amassing more wealth than they could spend and reduces hoarding of assets like property that further exacerbate the wealth gap.

I would like to know more about why this logic is wrong (if it is) or if there is some validity behind my position from somebody more informed than myself, thank you.
