Best non pretentious fine dining in the city?

My SO and I are spending a week in San Francisco toward the end of April, and I’m wondering if you all have any recommendations for your favorite restaurants? Budget isn’t an issue , but I will say I’m not very fond of the places that are too.. pretentious? hipster? I don’t know the term for it. I don’t want to pay a fortune to eat a fancy leaf with caviar or a tiny ball of fat lathered in some weird sauce

We’ve only eaten in the city once before , and it was at the niko steakhouse - we loved that
