Anybody ever made the jump from recruiting to business development?

Hi all

Currently recruiting for a search firm. Recruiters here are candidate facing, very little interaction with clients. Some more than others. I've been doing fairly well. I haven't been here all that long, but they've asked me to consider the client development side a few times now. It would be less income opportunity now, but the potential to do much better in the future.

Same base salary. Business has been slowish but hoping for an industry upturn soon. Never thought of myself as a sales guy but they seem to think I'd do well. Rather not say the exact industry as it's super specific, we'll say transportation for now.

Anybody ever made that jump? Pros? Cons? Thanks in advance!!
