Calling it now - AMD will announce MFG

I think AMD got caught off guard when they saw Nvidia announce DLSS 4 with a transformer model and MFG at a price point they want to offer their own cards at. They probably thought they finally caught up to Nvidia in the upscaling department with FSR 4, only to be one-up'd by them.

In addition to that, DLSS 4 MFG blurs the line of what performance actually means now. It might end up being a terrible feature, but it will be difficult to communicate to the average consumer why they should pick an AMD card over an Nvidia card when they only offer "half the frames".

Obviously, there are more reasons why AMD decided to delay the launch of RDNA4, but my guess is that they will use the time to implement MFG as well. I’m sure they experimented with it before. Hell, even lossless scaling can do 20x MFG.

AMD has an uphill battle convincing customers to buy their products over Nvidia’s. Charging 50-100 USD less than their green counterparts isn’t enough - they need to match Nvidia’s software features as well. So, I think AMD will try to add MFG by the time RDNA4 launches, or at the very least and in typical AMD fashion, announce it and implement it 6 months down the line.
