I’d like to formally induct “Flutter Catch” into the pinball lexicon

Not a drop catch, not a live catch, but a flutter catch.

When the flipper flutters the ball in an attempt to catch and cradle it.

This is a technique I’ve seen employed most often by the world’s top players. Usually the younger generation goes for it, but there are some older practitioners who heavily utilize like Jason Werdrick for example. However, some of the biggest practitioners of the flutter catch are Jason Zahler, Zach McCarthy, Jack Slovacek and Arvid.

I’ve thought about this term for the past year but thought I would get everyone’s thoughts on the term and was inspired to share it once I heard Dalton stumble upon the phrasing when they were trying to nail down a term for Jack Slovacek’s catch in the ‘24 expo.

Here is an example of the flutter catch in action: https://youtu.be/NgspAXMYD-Q?si=JKMtQNqpCykxMu5q?t=7050
