Accelerated Schooling and Possible Programs

Hello, Everyone!

I'm currently living in Washington state in the US and have recently become interested in the phlebotomy field but I'm having some trouble piecing together my path. My family faces some financial difficulties that I've been working to offset, but as of now my 16.28/hr with 15 hrs a weel doesn't cut it at McD. Because of this, I've been looking for other career opportunities and one of my strongest bargaining chips is my training as a combat medic for the Army. I'm National Guard and completed the training in November of 2023.

The program included a lot of venipuncture, including a single practice instance taking 2 small vials of blood from a partner, and analogous blood transfusions. The rest of our time spent stabbing each other was largely based around establishing saline locks and pushing medication rather than drawing blood. The course as a whole took 16 weeks, the first 8 of which were dedicated to obtaining our EMT-B registration. The course also included a week long field exercise where it wasn't uncommon to be doing 1 15-20 sticks a day on peers.

With all of this in mind, I've been trying to find a way to take a phlebotomy course in an accelerated way because (as I understood the guidelines) a passing score with any of the listed tests on Washington's Department of Health website would mean being able to be MA-P certified. Do any of y'all have advice about how practical taking an accelerated course would be? (I've considered the online course through US Career Institute) How likely is it I can pull this off and find a phlebotomy job? If online courses wouldn't work, does anyone have a recommendation for a phlebotomy school in the Pullman, WA area? Tri-Cities area?

Thank you all so much for your help. This idea has given me a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel.
