After tonight's win, the 76ers further separate themselves for the 7th best odds in the lottery - and a bigger chance to give the Thunder their pick as it is no longer under protection.

Per Tankathon, they are now 1 full game ahead of (behind?) the Brooklyn Nets with 18 games to go: https://tankathon.com/

For reference: This 2025 76ers first was part of Philadelphia salary dumping Al Horford on to the OKC Thunder back in 2020, a mere year after they signed him in free agency with their available cap space. The pick is Top 6 protected and was one of the 3 picks the 76ers gave up in the deal (It was the 34th and 52nd pick in the draft, Théo Maledon and Vasilije Micić respectively).

The OKC Thunder would eventually flip Al Horford in another salary dump after rehabbing his value, this time to the Boston Celtics for the 16th pick.

This was flipped to the Rockets who used it to select Alperen Şengün; OKC got back 2 future firsts which they'd use in a series of other moves - along with some of the assets they got in the Chris Paul trade - to get what is currently a haul of Ousmane Dieng, Aleksej Poku, Aaron Wiggins, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and a the Nuggets 2027 first. Not bad though this ignores the trades they made to get these players and picks involved passing up on Immanuel Quickley (This came from trading Jerami to Denver, it was moved for the pick that became Jaden McDaniels), Jalen Duren (The picks they got back from the Rockets were used in the move to pick up Dieng), Mark Williams (See the previous trade) and Jaden McDaniels (Rubio from the Chris Paul trade was moved as part of this deal which netted the Thunder Poku's draft rights).

Should the 76ers not give up their pick in this year's draft, they will owe a Top 4 pick to the OKC Thunder in 2026. Their 2025 1st is Top 6 protected.

The 76ers won 126-122 against the Utah Jazz in tonight's tank-off extravaganza.
