What do you think is one of the best all-time ensemble cast movies?
It’s easy to say something like Avengers: Endgame, but that’s like cheating, to me, because so much was ramping up to that point for so many years. Of course it would be glorious! But when I think of this question I always return to True Romance, which has almost every member of the ensemble come out of nowhere, leave an indelible mark on the film, and then disappear, always driving the plot forward, where each character is a brilliant roadside attraction on the journey towards the climax. Brad Pitt’s Floyd, despite only like a minute of screen time, was just as memorable to me as Gary Oldman’s Drexl, or Dennis Hopper’s and Christopher Walken’s iconic Sicilian scene. Even the production was ensemble, being written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott.
What’s your recommendation?
EDIT: I now have a decent list. Thanks for all the recommendations!
