Too many fantasy movies are parodies. There aren’t many actual fantasy movies

The Princess Bride, Monty Python holy grail, Robin Hood Men in tights, A Knights Tale. All of these movies are parodies of the fantasy genre, but the thing is what movies are they a parody of? If you think about it there’s barely any true “knight in shiny armor saves the Princess” type of movie that has realism. I would absolutely LOVE The Princess bride more if it wasn’t making fun of its genre.

That’s why I like movies like The Green Knight and Ridley Scott’s “Legend” Even if they are kinda goofy it’s still has that fairy tale fantasy feel, it’s not trying to be a joke. I just want there to be a minimalistic knight saves the Princess story where he fights dragons, and it’s filmed on location, no green screen or anything.

Do you all know what I’m trying to say? Like they keep parodying movies that don’t really exist. I meant unless they are a parody of Disney movies?? Is that it? Are they making fun of Disney movies? Idk if I was a director the first thing I’m doing is going to England to film a realistic fairy tale story. Are there any films you would reccomend? I can be low budget stuff, I have Excalibur 1981 and Highlander on my watchlist, so I’ll check those out
