Are we going to feel scammed when mk 9 releases?

Mario Kart 8 on Wii U started with only 30 characters and 8 cups. Obviously with the dlc and the dx port we got more characters and cups, especially from the booster course basically doubling the game. I feel now that I’m so used to having 24 cups and 48 characters that’s it’s going to be weird when we may only have 8 cups and less characters when 9 releases.
