South London - so disconnected ?

Been a few threads here recently alluding to how disconnected south east London is due to no tube and having to rely on national rail lines into London Bridge, Waterloo, Victoria, etc.

I think I have an interesting perspective on this. Recently moved from a home a short walk from the eastern end of the central line, to a home about 10 mins away from a south eastern rail station.

Struck me today we have been doing family trips into London way more since we moved. Yeah the trains are not so frequent and today we had to wait 15 mins for one to come, but the journey's are so much more bearable.

Today we took a 25 minute train to Cannon Street and then 15 mins tube to South Kensington. In retrospect this type of journey was so hellish on the central line we'd basically avoid it at all costs, essentially never really taking the kids into London.

Obviously people have different priorities. But if you're hitting the lets have a family stage in life and worried south east will cut you off from London, then in my world it absolutely doesn't and in fact the opposite has been true.
