“No, I’m not, I’m murderer!”
During the scene when Simba confronts Scar, there was a piece of dialogue exchange between them that caught my attention. It’s very minor, but I was never able to understand the purpose of it.
After Simba (falsely) admits to being responsible for Mufasa’s death, Scar initially calls Simba a murderer, to which Simba responds “No, it was an accident”. To that, Scar asks Simba if he denies that it’s his fault Mufasa died, and Simba responds with “No”.
As a result of that, Scar tells Simba that he is guilty, to which Simba responds with, “No, I’m not, I’m murderer!”
…What’s he trying to refute? Him saying he’s “murderer” validates Scar calling him guilty. It just feels counterproductive and redundant.
Maybe I misinterpreted this scene. Please correct me if I did. I know it’s a nitpick, but I’d appreciate some other perspectives.
