Are we allowed to celebrate new years?

I had to delete my previous post cuz the title wasnt specfic enough but i dont get why we cant celebrate new years? we dont drink or party, we only eat a nicer meal then usual, play more board games than usual and then we do the countdown. I get the reasons for christmas and easter due to their affiliations with other religions but new years has no religious relations at all. Its really discouraging me to be honest and idk.
