The Tonight Dough and Churray for Churros! Both great ✅✅

Kroger buy one get one Ben and Jerry’s sale continues!

The Tonight Dough

  • Caramel ice cream: Caramel who? This is vanilla.
  • Chocolate ice cream: Good, dense, fudgy.
  • Chocolate cookie swirls: Thick! Taste like Oreo cookie but sweeter. Gritty texture adds complexity.
  • Chocolate chip cookie dough: Good size, like between dime and nickel. Familiar taste, slightly mild. Plentiful!
  • Peanut butter cookie dough: Scumptious! The best part of the pint. Same size, color and texture as the chocolate chip cookie dough, but mega peanut butter flavor. Yum!

**Rating: 8.5/10. I think this is a better version of Brownie Batter Core as it basically has the same chocolate and vanilla duo ice creams. But also more chewy texture in the cookie dough and a difference in texture in the gritty chocolate cookie swirl. It is overall sweeter though. My favorite part is the peanut butter cookie dough, but it did sorta taste disconnected, sorta thrown in. Can’t complain about the cookie dough overload though. I will say I was looking forward to caramel ice cream in particular and didn’t get that here.

Churray for Churros!

  • Buttery cinnamon ice cream: The specific taste of cinnamon flavor milk after eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. A nice, uncomplicated, old fashioned taste. High quality thick and dense ice cream. Literally broke my plastic spoon.
  • Churro pieces: Baked churro taste. Not crunchy, not soggy, just slightly moist, nice, cake. A big improvement over Haagen Dazs Dulce de Leche Churro which had churro pieces that tasted underbaked and under seasoned.
  • Crunchy cinnamon swirl: A little crunchier maybe. Similar in taste. Pretty indistinguishable from the churro.

Rating: **8.5/10. A much simpler ice cream than The Tonight Dough but in my opinion just as nice. More unique tasting overall, a little less fun to eat. Some of the churro pieces were larger though which were the best bites.

Which would I choose?

Both are great quality Ben and Jerry’s ice creams that do the brand justice. The Tonight Dough has maximum mix ins and looks and tastes fancy as an ice cream. Ben and Jerry’s is known for mix ins and this one delivers. But I have respect for Churray for Churros as Ben and Jerry’s definitely bested Haagen Dazs here with a more refined flavor and more cohesiveness throughout. I think I have to give the nod to Churray for Churros as a unique flavor done in a classic, restrained style with medium textural interest. A combination that is uncommon for the brand.

Of note though: I’m definitely seeking out more peanut butter cookie dough.
