Hotel Toranomon Hills wrap review
Just wrapped up 3 nights at HTH, a few differences in from my last stay in June.
Was upgraded to Deluxe Corner Suite King, City View. This had a great view of the Tokyo Tower from the living and bedroom. (pics below, I posted these earlier in the week, but were taken down by mods for lack of context)
Couple of differences from my stay in June.
Breakfast is now in the main Le Pristine restaurant, behind the front desk. Previously it was in the cafe which is next to the open bar area. I preferred the more open and bright space of the cafe last time, but the food is basically the same. As with many hotels the coffee is very slow - you need to ask for it and it seems like they are just running one espresso machine. For the life of me I don't understand why hotels don't brew pots of coffee anymore.
The gym on 13 is still the same subpar/sad gym. One bench and a set of dumbbells up to 24kg. Couple of bikes, couple of treadmills. It's just a duplex suite with the equipment thrown in. It's 24hrs
The 5th floor is now open with a connection to the outside shops. There is a very nice full service gym ala Equinox or Pure (for my APAC based readers!) I read about this on Flyertalk. I mentioned it to the front desk at check in and was told "this is normally chargeable, but as you are a Globalist we can give you comp access". I got a card with a QR and my room number for the gym called Carappo.
Big problem for me: the gym only opens at 7am. I need to be in the gym at sharp so I can be done by 7am, shower, breakfast and get to work. For others without an early schedule, this gym looks great. Highly suggest asking at check in (and if you care to, throw in a slight feedback that the gym inside the hotel is so poor!)
Otherwise the stay is excellent - upgraded rooms here are wonderful, very intuitive. You will need a two prongged American/Japanese plug or USB for the bedside - there are only a few universal plugs in the room usually near the desk/table in my case.
As many have said the connectivity is great - subway stop accessible by going down two levels via escalator. I've migrated over here from the Hyatt Centric as I prefer the room and views, and never really liked the whole sink-in-the-middle of the room thing there.
