Why did Fred hate etm so much?

Gary or JD hating him makes sense since they have to deal with him behind the scenes and I can see how that could be exhausting and aggravating but Fred only had to deal with him over the phone when he called in occasionally and he seemed to hold a lot of animosity towards him. Fred was the only one that didn't shake his hand when he did his only in studio visit and refused to apologize for it when it was brought up as well.
