The new Dungeon & Fighters ARAD trailer is one of the most egregious examples of trend chasing in gacha games.
When something is successful, an industry follows. Nexon Games revealed at the Game Awards a new entry of the Dungeon Fighters series, Dungeon & Fighters ARAD, which is highly likely to be a new action RPG gacha, and it's... very generic.
take a look at the Dungeon Fighter online art:
its a very distinctively manhwa style with a dark futuristic setting. Now compare this to a still of the new trailer:
What in the Genshin Impact new update trailer is this? If you showed this still or the trailer to someone without mentioning the title of the game people would think its from Genshin. Dungeon Fighters completely shedding its identity in favor of a Mihoyo-like style has received a very mixed reception online and frankly it deserves it. It is not uncommon for gacha games to now follow the style of Hoyo games like Azur Promilia and Wuthering Waves, but to let go of a series identity like this is whole another level of studios chasing a trend. It's something I fear will only get worse and DNF: ARAD will certainly not be the last series willing to change its identity to become Genshin-coded.
