How much spice is too much spice?

(Sorry this is here and not in romancebooks, but it wouldn’t let me post it)

The title might be a little bit confusing, but yesterday I read the PUMPKIN SPICE CAFE, and on the blurb, it said it was spicy. When I finished reading the book, I counted the scenes, and counted maybe four ish? And was thinking, “oh that’s not a lot.” But a year ago, I would have said differently.

basically, when do you consider a book “spicy?” Because when a book has like one or two scenes, does that count? Or does it need more? I think figuring it out has kind of been messed up for me by reading Icebreaker and After (don’t judge please, it’s bad enough), because those two are just basically smut, so my default standard has been lowered so, “oh this book only has (insert number amount) spice scenes, it’s not that bad.”

But yeah, what do you think?
