Infuriating bad press about Eagles fans

I open up Reddit only to find 3 or 4 posts in a row that show Philly fans stealing a hat from a Commie fan after the game, someone shooting a gun in a crowd, and posts stating how we're the worst fanbase out there. A couple of weeks ago it was the guy calling a Packers fan a c*nt for no reason and now this. It's been on r/NFL and r/NFLv2 with each post getting hundreds, if not thousands of upvotes, with the majority of the comments saying "fuck Philly and their team".

It breaks my heart to see the team I love get shit on by everyone because of some rotten apples in this fanbase who are unhinged. It seems like any good thing this team does, some fans go and create a PR nightmare for the team and city. It's like any one reason to hate this team gets amplified and everyone wants to shit on the fans. I do not condone anything any of these guys did because it's just plain bottom-barrel scum, but I don't want to feel like an asshole for supporting my team and being responsible for those I have no control over. The Eagles (and Phillies for that matter) have worked hard over the past decade to change the culture in Philly for the better and it just seems to go two steps back for every step forward.

At what point do these fans understand that saying "nobody likes us and we don't care" is not an excuse for shitty behaviour and justification for being shitty? The saying is supposed to prove that we're hated for being the better team on and off the field, not that we will contribute to why people hate the team. I feel bad for the Commie fan who got his hat stolen, I hope the guy who shot into the sky gets arrested, and I hope that guy who called the Packers fan a c*nt doesn't ever cheer for the Birds again. I am sick and tired of being known as the shittest fanbase in the NFL and want to enjoy my team without everyone else telling me that my team's fans are the worst people imaginable.
