Picking up a pass for someone else (questions)

I read online somewhere that you could pick up passes for other people in your group with a photocopy of their id and a letter from them saying it was okay. I have purchased a 5-day pass for the con and am picking it up Thursday but was wanting to also pick up my husbands one day pass for Friday as well when I pick mine up on Thursday. Will I be able to do this? Are there any kinks or difficulties I should know of? Do I need to pay for his pass with a card with my name on it?
