I got my first-ever comic books today
And I am over the moon! It's an interest that's been building over the past few years as I've been particularly interested in the history behind comics in America. I've read a few nonfiction books about the medium and about specific characters, watched and rewatched superhero movies spanning decades, and the only thing left that I haven't really taken a dive into is the comics themselves. So today, I decided to find a comic book spot near me and see what's in there.
I have to say I was absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff in there. Current releases, omnibuses, older runs from the silver age and from the 80s and 90s. Absolutely insane depth.
In the end, I decided to pick out some more modern titles to get myself started, so here's what I picked up:
Sam Wilson: Captain America No. 1
Justice League Unlimited Nos. 1 and 2
Absolute Batman Nos. 1-3
Absolute Superman Nos. 2 and 3 (store didn't have No. 1)
Absolute Wonder Woman Nos. 2 and 3 (store didn't have No. 1)
Spectacular Spider-Men Nos. 2-7, 9-11 (store didn't have No. 1 or No. 8)
Batman No. 608 (Hush)
Deadpool and Wolverine No. 1
This is just a start, but I'm very excited to dive deeper into the medium and see what I like. I'm hoping that this leads me to find more things that interest me in the future.
