Where do couches come from

Been looking for a couch for like 4 entire years. Would like to spend within $500-1000. This was an achievable goal everywhere else I’ve lived but I stalk Facebook marketplace, all the area thrift stores, and Craigslist. Anything within budget is …. Gross, and anything that looks halfway decent seems to cost upwards of $2000-3000. Surely not everyone here is dropping used car money on a couch. Any ideas?
