Recommended a book that's written simply or mediocrely enough that I feel better about my writing ability, but isn't so bad it's not enjoyable.
I typically read authors who are leagues beyond my writing ability, but when I'm trying to write, this saps my motivation.
What is something I could compare myself favourably to, but I won't hate?
I know comparisons will never be my friend, and I dislike my writing, because I intimately know it's shortcomings, etc. but this is still a funny prompt.
