Books that objectively, you know weren't great but managed to read at exactly the right point in your life

I vividly remember reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho in high school because the boy I had a crush on had read it and loved it and thought I should read it. It was not my cup of tea, I found it incredibly underwhelming and uninteresting but I could sort of see the appeal. Tried to read it again as an adult and still didn't love it.

On the flip side I finished The Midnight Library by Matt Haig today and I don't think it was an exceptionally well written book (objectively I think it's predictable and a bit cliche) however I think I managed to read it at exactly the right point in my life. I think if I hadn't managed to read it while struggling to prevent myself from falling into another big depression - this book wouldn't have felt like a warm cozy hug and instead been both underwhelming and uninteresting despite the excellent premise.

Tl;dr: I know these two books are very divisive on r/books so I wanted to know what books had given other readers that feeling of ' I loved (or hated) this book but I can see why people feel the opposite'.
