Griff talked about Z’s refusal, despite evidence to the contrary, to admit that he does films based on testing new tech. What other directors refuse to admit to a recurring choice in their projects?

Example: Woody Allen would probably argue against half his filmography being about grooming teenage girls.

I’d also throw in directors that maybe figure it out in their old age. For instance, I think it took decades for Spielberg to understand he kept putting his opinions of his mother/father in his films.
