Why do people say mourning doves are rare?
Hi Aussie bird enjoyer here. One of the sentiments I see most across bird media is that Mourning Doves are "Nearly Extinct" or "Barely any left". But every like actual population source I've seen says that they are of least concern with a big population and are one of the most common birds in the states. Do any of you lovely folks have any ideas as to why there's such a big divide between the statistics and what people believe? It's especially strange as this isn't even the only case of numbers and status being high yet many people saying the species is nearly gone, have seen similar things with rosellas here and also squirrels.
