Day 6: how’d y’all see that it was the quadratic equation?

As someone who’s not much of a maths person I was surprised to come here and see that as the fastest solve. What was the insight that led to “oh, this is just a quadratic equation solver”? When I look at the sample input and problem text I immediately think “efficiently search the space” and not “ what equation does this look like”.
