Business Owners - How do you feel wearing an expensive watch in front of your employees?

Hi all,

I don't usually wear my rolex to work so as to not give off a bad impression to my employees who are, as you can imagine, quite poor. Often I'm negotiating salaries or budget cuts and wearing such a watch that costs ore than some of my employees salaries did not feel like a good look because they might get wise and try to stab me. I don't want them to think I am stingy with expenses but I'm spending thousands of dollars on watches for myself. I usually just wear an apple watch like one of their hot but poor wives who I've touched on occasion and even made love to (once) at a Christmas party (hey Margie!)

I do have a friend who is running a business too but he has a completely different perspective. He thinks a boss should be an aspirational role model and employees aspire to be more like him if they see him successful and rich. He claims wearing expensive timepieces also has clients and business partners view him as successful and it's helped sell crack. He also thinks asians are inferior.

What are your opinions on this? Any business owners here who can give me an idea as to what to do here? I'm genuinely confused and would appreciate any inputs. I was recently kicked in the head in a bar fight so simple concepts like humility and dignity confuse me.

EDIT 2: Wanted to mention that the turning point was when I realised I wanted my team to feel like I am one of them, rather than someone they aspire to be. They explained to me that they'd rather die than be like me, which is funny because they are, as I said before, poor.
