Starting a state job soon, got some questions

Hey everyone,

Starting a state job soon and had a few questions, I'll be working with DSHS as a benefit specialist.

1. Is this a union job? I know some state jobs are union but I can't find any info about this particular position and I'm too afraid to ask.

2. Any benefits? I know federal employees get benefits but do state employees also get benefits? I'm sure there's phone plan discounts, any other discounts, or any discounts people recommend?

3. Anyone have any experience of know of anyone who has gone to different state departments or even taken a federal job?
