HOT TAKE: Undertale isn't that great.
Okay, so, I want to make it clear that I DON'T hate Undertale or Deltarune. In fact, I used to love them! But one day, I was digging through Nintendo Switch Online, and saw Earthbound. I heard it was what inspired Toby to make his stuff. I played it, fell in love with it (and the whole Mother trilogy) and it made me cry. (I never cried once with Toby Fox games) It was beautiful and one of the best rpgs I ever played. I went back to Undertale and... it was pretty underwhelming. A lot of the stuff I loved was in Earthbound and Mother 3, but better, and more beautiful. Now I don't understand why people like Undertale so much. Please, don't take this as hate or anything, I just want to know why everyone loves it so much. So, if you're willing, please tell me what you love about it that Mother/Earthbound doesn't have. (I'm also not saying it's perfect, I'm just saying I like Mother/Earthbound more.)
