The OPTIONAL dilemma

I was originally planning to go for law optional as it covered parts of other gs papers and has a decent success rate but with recent people experiences, I believe it wasn't a right choice. Now I am planning to go for anthropology, which has my interest whole heartedly. I was kindof forcing myself in law. The syllabus is HUGE and really difficult to cover + the subject is really opinionated. Can anthropology people please guide me. I would really appreciate it.
