Conservatives don’t care about giving opportunities for the poor and working class

I don’t understand why so many poor and working class people vote conservative. Conservatives are making the military more selective because of “muh standards”, cutting scholarships for colleges, making jobs more selective, and more. It is frustrating to work so hard in your life and be robbed of so many opportunities
