(Loved Trope) When the seemingly mindless monster can mimic human speech

Siren Head (Trevor Henderson) - Uses his siren as a way to broadcast a multitude of different sounds, particularly human voice. In some interpretations, it even makes the same sounds as its victims.

The Entity (Kane Pixels’ Backrooms) - Has been seen using repeated screams/messages of people. Theorised to either be people that eventually became it, or the sounds it heard from the people it has killed.

The Weeping Angels (Doctor Who) - Usually they have the one gimmick, they move when you’re not looking, that’s it. But in the episode “Time of the Angels” it turns out that one stole the voice of one of the Doctor’s allies, Cleric Bob, and used it to mock the Doctor by communicating over the radio and telling him about how scared Bob was when he died.

Overall, this trope is great. It can be both terrifying and tragic. The human voice is something we should be delighted to hear, especially in a life or death situation, so it hear it corrupted by something whose main goal is to kill anything and anyone it sees, is terrifying. But also tragic, knowing that people whose voice originated are now dead, and especially with the first two examples where you can even hear what was possibly their last words/screams. It’s sad to think about that.

But also, it’s just really cool. To see what looks and acts like some animalistic monster who only wants to kill just to kill and doesn’t usually do anything particularly strategic, somehow do something so smart, luring in victims using people’s voices or mocking the survivors. It also adds another level of sadism to it. It shows that these monsters know what they’re doing, and have higher intelligence, and yet do it anyway, it’s messed up.
