Why is Klaroline, Delena, Klamille, and Kolvina praised, but Bonkai is hated?
I’ve been in this fandom for a while and I’ve noticed a lot of hypocrisy of shipping in this fandom…People love Klaroline (as do I) despite Klaus killing Tyler’s mom AND Jenna, so reasonably it wouldn’t make sense why Caroline would date him especially since she has high morals (didn’t want Elena to date Damon because of his actions) but literally NOBODY points that out or cares when shipping Klaus and Caroline together. Same thing with Delena, people love Delena (as do I) despite Damon killing Jeremy and Elena’s bio mom, and r*ping Caroline, which doesn’t make ANY sense considering Elena’s morals shown throughout the early seasons which seemingly no one cares about when shipping them.
Let’s get to Bonnie’s ships. Throughout my time in this fandom, I’ve noticed a pattern that when people ship Bonnie with Damon, Kai, Klaus, and Kol, they say she’s too good for them and would never date them. Even Julie Plec and Caroline Dries has said this in regards to these ships and it’s made me believe that there’s racism behind this. The white female leads of TVD and extended universe are allowed to date the “bad boys” - even when it makes no sense for them and it would make sense for Bonnie. For example, Klaus and Caroline came out of nowhere, and only happened after people shipped Klonnie Same thing happened with Kolvina, Julie Plec said that Bonnie would never date Kol because she’s too young to date him and too good for him, then puts him with essentially the white version of Bonnie, Davina, who is literally has the same attributes. When people ship Bonnie and Kai, people say it’s bad considering Kai is a bad person and that Bonnie hated him, despite Damon, Klaus, Kol, and even Stefan being 10x worse. Also, relationships like Klaroline and Delena were allowed to grow from enemies to lovers but Bonkai couldn’t?
Most of Bonnie’s ships were created as a way to shut up Bonnie fans who noticed this pattern and Bonnie’s ships are usually lackluster and rushed! Bonnie got cheated on by Jeremy, and Benzo was just rushed and lowkey the knock-off version of Bamon. People can acknowledge how badly written these ships are for Bonnie, but whenever we ship other relationships for Bonnie there’s always backlash because it’s main male lead instead of a random side character for her with no relevance to the plot.
Am I wrong in saying this?
