lack of nuance and subtlety is what kills this game

seriously. this game has all the subtlety of being beaten to death with a sledgehammer. it's SO heavy handed with everything it does that is just feels melodramatic and cringey.

the first was a masterclass in SHOW DON'T TELL, and it only showed what we needed to see in order to put the pieces together.

the grounded (no pun intended) feel and emotional restraint is what made the first game feel so powerful. here, it's hammed up so hard almost the point of being borderline comedic.

i don't hate it, but i certainly don't like it as much as the first.

i also do not like abby's character, nor do i resonate with her. i would've been willing to empathize with a character that would've once been someone i hoped would die (loki, draco malfoy, scar, etc), it's been done before with great success. she's simply not written well enough (in my opinion) for me to want to root for her, and i'm honestly astonished by the amount of people that DO love this character.
