Considering Teaching: Your advice?

I will be subbing as a teacher assistant for my district. I have always wanted to be a teacher and this will allow me to be able to pursue school, but the shortage and the way teachers are leaving in droves does make me pause. What was your reason for leaving the field, would you recommend it to someone who is considering it?
