Kody told on himself so much during that conversation with Janelle
I'm a bit late I know, but in episode 8 of this season when Kody and Janelle meet to talk about 'business and the land', I thought it was so interesting that Kody said he thinks Janelle hasn't talked much about separating to him because they are both avoiding the accountability of being the one to initiate the breakup. It's basically him admitting to what we (and Meri, and Christine) have been saying all along- that he just wants to drive his wives away while still being able to say he didn't leave them. He just actually said it out loud, while trying to bash Janelle- he's trying to avoid the accountability.
He also basically just admitted to being willing to screw his (ex)wives over. When he said he's not telling Janelle anything because he knows Janelle would be willing to do anything to screw him, that was such clear projection. Like, Janelle is literally taking the most calm, non-confrontational approach possible- she'd just like to know what's going on, she'd ideally like to be bought out but she is still willing to consider keeping the land and building- and he's acting as if she's launched some kind of grand manipulative scheme. There's no reason to assume she's not just trying to be upfront and cooperative. But he is actually the one withholding information, not being upfront, or diverting from the conversation. So bizarre to watch him tell on himself like that.
It also blew my mind that Kody actually said if Janelle builds on Coyote Pass he and Robyn might have second thoughts about going to live out there as well. As if Robyn hasn't been insisting this whole time that she wants the whole family out on a porch on that property. What does he mean she might not want to live next to Janelle?
I'm really enjoying this season tbh. I get all of the criticisms about the delay in filming, but it's also so cathartic watching them all finally acknowledge so many of the elephants in the room- after seasons and seasons of disingenuous "we love polygamy! We wouldn't want anything else! It makes us better people!"
Plus on a completely separate note- Meri is so funny, I love it. Her joke about getting the name of every guy she dates from now on tattoed on her leg? So good.
